Tom Hardy cast as Venom

Tom Hardy has been cast as Venom. Sony is looking to reboot their Marvel films after the previous iterations of Spider-Man has not had the lasting success the studio would like. The original Spider-Man trilogy had it's moments and were successful financially but not well liked within the comic community. The Amazing Spider-Man films are considered flops. With Marvel Studios helping to reboot Spider-Man to be able to use him in their films, it looks like Sony wants the credit for some Marvel films of their own. It's unclear yet how Sony will work with Marvel Studios on characters beyond Spider-Man but I would LOVE to see Tom Hardy in the MCU.

Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer has been pegged to helm the film. Previous rumblings were that Sony wanted this to be a R-rated film off the heels Logan and Deadpool, but we'll see where it comes in. 

I have to say, I love this casting. Tom Hardy will show us an Eddie Brock that Topher Grace was just not equipped to handle (Sorry Topher!)
