“Only The Brave” is Based On A True Story Of Courage, Dedication And Tragedy
Only the Brave is a new movie by Sony Pictures about the tragic loss of the Granite Mountain Hotshots at the Yarnell Hill Fire of 2013. This wildfire was located outside of Phoenix Arizona and to this day is known as one of the deadliest wildfires in US history. This incident was started by a bolt of lightning and in the end scorched more than 8,000 acres, claimed over 120 buildings and took the lives of 19 of the 20 fire fighters in the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The only person to survive in the 20-man crew was 21-year-old Brendan McDonough. While the names of the crew might not be immediately recognized by some, their sacrifice will never be forgotten. CNN did a really nice piece in memory of the Hotshots and you can see that here.

The story will be told by some amazing performers, including: Miles Teller, Josh Brolin, Taylor Kitsch, Jeff Bridges, Jennifer Connelly. Director Joseph Kosinski (Known for Oblivion and Tron Legacy) is heading up the project which will be released on October 20th 2017. "Only The Brave" will hopefully shed a light on the challenges faced by the men and women in our forestry and fire fighting services. There are nearly one and a half million firefighters in the US and every day they rush into danger, putting their lives on the line, to save those in need. With much of the western United States in flames at the moment, this movie and the memory of these men will hopefully give us pause and a moment to express gratitude to those who keep us safe.
