Dan Harmon Gives Mr. Poopy Butthole Some Emotional Back Story And We Got All The Feels

If you aren't already familiar, Mr. Poopy Butthole is a character from the show Rick and Morty. In an episode called "Total Rickall" (Season 2 Episode 4,) Rick, Morty and the rest of the family find themselves caught in a very confusing struggle. (MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD) Their home has been invaded by alien parasites that warp their minds and cause them to hallucinate. The parasites disguise themselves as a random creature or person and implant a lifetime of false memories and kinship in the families minds. Rick tries to get ahead of the chaos by tracking the number of "real" people in the home but the confusion inevitably overcomes him as well. After a series of mind games, Morty actually figures out a way to differentiate between who may or may not be real. The family begins eliminating the imposters in what essentially becomes a massacre in their living room.

The last, unfamiliar creature left in the room is none other than Mr. Poopy Butthole. As he and Rick begin to chuckle and reminisce on the insanity that just took place, Beth grows suspicious of his existence and shoots him. MPB immediately begins bleeding out and writhing in pain. A short, post-credit sequence shows him recovering from his gun shot wound and Beth struggling with the fact that she actually shot somebody. Since this episode however, Mr. Poopy Butthole has become and fan favorite and people have been wondering if they'd seen the last of this Tic Tac shaped gentleman. Today Adult Swim gifted us with some new, exclusive MPB back story. Give it a watch but be warned, you might want to bring some tissues.
