Horizon Zero Dawn has an incredibly versatile photo mode and I always wanted to use it for something other than screen shots. One day I sat down with my controller and decided to just play around with the settings and see what I came up with. As a photographer, and a fan of the Planet Earth series, I have always been obsessed with Parallax time lapse shots. The amount of time and planning that goes into something, spanning only a few seconds (in some cases) is amazing to me. We all know what time lapse is, right? It's a series of images captured at specific time intervals that, when combined, give the scene a fast forward look. Parallax is the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions, e.g., through the viewfinder and the lens of a camera. Thanks Webster. I'm pretty stoked with how this first test video came out. I'd love to run around and capture some more in game footage in some crazier situations to see what I can come up with. All in all, this probably took me about six hours to capture. The most difficult shots to capture were the zoom out, rotate, time lapse clips of Aloy laying down. I don't even remember how I contorted my hand to hit all the buttons I needed to in order to make the shot work but they look pretty sweet. I hope you enjoy!
