Is Mother! a Secret Sequel to Rosemary's Baby?

Just a few short weeks ago we posted the trailer for Darren Aronofsky's new film mother! Needless to say, we can't wait to see it and are even more excited that it will be out in less than a month. Adding to the hype, Paramount Pictures just released the latest poster for the movie, and if you're familiar with the iconic one sheet for Rosemary's Baby you may notice some similarities. Both posters feature the main characters face very large with an image of the films main focus juxtaposed directly in the center. In Rosemary's Baby we have the cradle of the baby mentioned in the title, for mother! we have the house in which the film takes place. With this in mind, I think It's fair to say that there will be a major plot point in the film tied to the secret of the house,  but what could that be? In the trailer we catch a brief glimpse of the house transforming into an alternate twisted version of itself and also see Jennifer Lawrence attempting to break down part of the wall which is bleeding. Could Javier Bardem's character be the satan child from Rosemary's Baby? Is it a coincidence that Paramount, who also released Rosemary's Baby, is teasing mother! with a poster paying homage to the iconic poster from Polanski's classic film? Just last year we saw Adam Winguard's film The Woods revealed to be a secret sequel to the Blair Witch Project so it may not be a stretch. We'll have to wait and see for sure come September 15 but we'll keep our tinfoil hats on until then. Scroll down for the aforementioned posters and stay tuned for our review upon release!
